Man pleads with wife for his daughter’s safe return

On Behalf of | May 30, 2013 | Child Custody

Florida residents might be interested to hear a man in Savannah, Georgia is pleading for his daughter’s return. His estranged wife disappeared with the two-year-old girl, and her other four-month-old daughter after the man dropped off the two-year-old at his wife’s parents’ home. The man has full-custody of his daughter. As the custodial parent, he had dropped off the girl as part of an arranged visit. Police are now following leads to try to find the woman and her two daughters.

The woman’s parents say they received a text from her, saying that she was trying to get her life together and that she would return when she was done. They also claim that they have no knowledge of where she is. The woman posted to her Facebook profile, writing, ‘Saying see you later my FB loves…not goodbye.”

The man and his wife are both combat veterans, and he says that she has struggled and been treated for PTSD in the past. His wife had recently been doing better, he says. Taking off without letting anyone know was not something he expected her to do. His plea is for her to return her children to safety. The woman has ties in North Carolina, Colorado and Florida, and police are concerned that she might have taken the children to one of these states.

Though still less common than mothers with full custody, the number of fathers holding full custody of their children after separation or divorce is increasing since the best interests of the child are at stake. Child custody laws are different in each locality so the advice and guidance offered by an experienced law firm is not only important but necessary when visitations and other arrangements are being discussed, particularly in cases involving different states.
